Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
Draft. To be reviewed by a solicitor before Stoic Planner is on the App Store.
Stoic Planner helps you plan each day around one most important task, work through it in focused blocks, and review your days, weeks, months and years against your goals. It works fully on your iPhone without an account. This policy explains what Stoic Planner stores, where, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Stoic Planner is made by Merakigai LP, a limited partnership registered in Scotland (number SL037346), 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh EH2 4AN, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at support@stoicplanner.app.
What stays on your iPhone
Without an account, everything (your days, tasks, focus blocks, scores and notes, goals and reviews) stays on your iPhone and none of it reaches us. The widgets and the Lock Screen focus card read it on your iPhone too.
What we store when you sign in
- Your account: the email address and name Apple or Google share when you sign in, and an identifier for that Apple or Google account. If you use Sign in with Apple, we also keep a token Apple gives us so we can tell Apple when you delete your account.
- Your plans: your days, tasks, focus blocks, day scores and notes, goals, reviews and settings, so they are backed up and match on every device you sign in on.
- Your devices: each signed-in device's name and type and when it was last used, so you can see and sign out your devices.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, the device's push token (an address Apple gives the app), the times of your plan-tomorrow reminders, and while you focus, when your block and break end and what the Lock Screen shows for them, so we can send them when the app is closed. They're deleted once sent, and when you sign the device out.
Subscriptions
Stoic Planner Premium is bought through Apple; we never see your payment details. To know whether you have Premium, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives your purchase and subscription history from Apple, an identifier for you (your account's if you're signed in, a random one if not), and basic technical information such as your iPhone's iOS version, app version, country and IP address.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
Only to run Stoic Planner for you. We don't sell or share your data for advertising, show ads, track you across other apps or websites, or use your plans to train AI models. The app contains no advertising or analytics trackers. Under UK and EU data protection law (the GDPR), our legal bases are:
- Performing our contract with you: your account, backing up and syncing your plans, your devices, the notifications and focus card you ask for, and your subscription.
- Our legitimate interests in keeping Stoic Planner secure and working: error reports from our server, limiting abuse, and keeping the records we need to answer your requests.
- Your consent for notifications, which you give in iOS and can withdraw at any time in Settings → Notifications.
- Legal obligations, where a law requires us to keep or disclose something.
We don't make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who processes it for us
- Cloudflare runs our API (Cloudflare Workers), worldwide.
- Railway stores your account and plans, in the United States.
- Sentry receives reports when our server fails, which can include the request path and an account identifier but not your plans.
- RevenueCat keeps your subscription status, as described above.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in under their own privacy policies, Apple handles purchases, and Apple delivers notifications to your iPhone.
Each processes data only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement. Some are in the United States: those transfers are protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, or by the provider's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.
How long we keep it
- Your account, plans and settings: until you delete your account.
- A device's record and push token: until you sign that device out, or Apple tells us the token no longer works.
- Scheduled notifications: until they're sent, replaced or cancelled.
- Server error reports: up to 90 days.
Deleted data can remain in our database provider's backups for a short time until they are overwritten.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. This permanently deletes your account, plans and devices from our servers, and revokes Stoic Planner's access to your Apple ID if you signed in with Apple. Deleting the app removes what it kept on your iPhone. A subscription is separate: cancel it in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Your rights (UK and EU)
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it in a portable format, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email support@stoicplanner.app and we'll answer within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live, though we'd like the chance to put it right first.
California residents
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, for the purposes above: identifiers (email address, name, account and device identifiers, IP address), commercial information (your subscription), and the content of your plans. We don't sell or share personal information, as those words are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we don't use sensitive personal information for anything beyond providing Stoic Planner. You have the right to know what we collect and how we use it, to get a copy, to correct it and to delete it, and we won't treat you differently for using these rights. You or an agent you authorise can ask at support@stoicplanner.app; we'll confirm it's you through the email address on your account. Because we don't track you across sites or services, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals don't change anything we do.
Security
Your data travels encrypted (HTTPS), your sign-in is kept in the iPhone's Keychain, and access to our servers is limited to us. If a breach puts your data at risk, we'll tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Children
Stoic Planner isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
